Yeah, autumn is here! It’s time to hit as many parks as we possibly can before winter creeps upon us. So we brought the kids to Nasu Rindoko Lakeview (那須りんどう湖) in Tochigi Prefecture recently. The countryside park has beautiful scenery and all sorts of activities and rides for the family, but personally, I find the park pretty pricey. We got the prepaid tickets, which the staff would cross out the amount for every attraction we used. I kept getting the impression that we were running out of value. Not wanting to overspend, I did not take most of the rides. I think after our last trip to the amusement park in Gunma, I PREFER one-day passes, which include the entrance fee and give us access to every attraction. Sadly, Rindoko Lakeview Park does not offer such a ticket option.

Nasu Rindoko

On certain days, the place will be “illuminated” at night. They double the price for the ferry after 4 pm for night cruising around the lake. (For nights with illumination and fireworks, see the calendar.)

There is a petting zoo in the park. (Thank goodness, it’s free!) The animals are very tamed. One of the sheep even wanted to kiss Twinkle-Bell but my little girl’s chuckles scared the sheep away. 😛 There are many activities for the children and their families. They can learn to milk cows, see how milk is being processed, ride horses or ponies, feed the animals, or do some crafts. I even see families RENTING a dog or a sheep for a walk!

Tochigi Rindoko

I think Daddy enjoyed the most in the park. He tried the Zip-Line KAKKU. He glided over the Rindoko lake (to and fro) while attached to a wire. According to the park, it is the longest wire ride in Japan (one-way ride measures 220 m long) and the first in the world to go over a lake.

Rindoko Kakku

Small kids are not allowed on the Kakku, but they can have their thrill on the Bungee Trampoline if they want to. Fireball was not interested. My boy was content with the giant maze, the athletic playground, and a game of mini-golf.
